To me this is the most puzzlegame than any of the others, because here you really have to put the pieces together so they dont overlap.

controls:
Mouse Controls

  • Left Button – Picks up and puts down pieces in the toolbox and the puzzle holes.
  • Right Button – Flips the current selected piece horizontally.
  • Mousewheel – Rotates the current piece so that it may be positioned in any direction

Keyboard Controls

  • Space – Picks up and puts down pieces in the toolbox and the puzzle holes
  • 1 – Selects the left most piece in the toolbox
  • 2 – Selects the middle piece in the toolbox
  • 3 - Selects the right most piece in the toolbox
  • Q – Centers the selected piece over the top-left hole
  • W – Centers the selected piece over the top-right hole
  • A – Centers the selected piece over the bottom-left hole
  • S – Centers the selected piece over the bottom-right hole
  • X – Flips the current selected piece horizontally
  • Z – Rotates the selected piece counterclockwise
  • C – Rotates the selected piece clockwise
  • Arrow Keys – Moves the selected piece around the selected hole

(it does work faster with the mouse controls so I recommend it strongly)

Carpentry, depending on what experience and skill you have, have 2 or 4 holes. There is a "tool-box" with 3 puzzle pieces from which you can choose where to put them.
When you have 4 holes I recommend that u finish the two on the sides or top/bottom because depending on how many stars you have on the left side (each star represents 2 holes), the patched pieces will move and 2 new holes will appear.
This means that it will be easier to place odd pieces that does not fit the other ones you are working on.

Putty Bucket - now and then you will recieve a bucket. This you can use to fill a piece space up.
Some prefer to just fill something up as fast as possible so they clear the toolbox, others prefer to use it when they are missing a rare piece on a hole.
I try to mix and match depending on how the board looks like.

Masterpiece - when u manage to fill a hole without any pieces overlapping, you get a masterpiece.
Grain bonus - Each piece as it comes into play has a grain on it just like a real piece of wood. The grain always runs left to right when a piece first appears in the toolbox. Now I never really focus on this but its almost as good as a masterpiece. But if you notice a hole might be booched, try to get the grain bonus if possible.
Try to train to place pieces horizontally if you want them, but I recommend that you just do your thing Razz

I usually work the holes from the corners, outside in

When a hole starts to flash and pieces shake it means you have 3 turns to place a piece into the hole or it will grow one square and make it impossible to make a masterpiece. If the hole has a piece in it, it will remove that piece.

There is a lot more to carp then one might think of so if you want to learn more check out the tutorial on YPPEDIA

UGH, I hate carp.
I cannot carp without both a mouse and keyboard, and I can't carp using only the mouse =(.
I think carp is one of those puzzles that takes time to practise and refine.
A good tip is to try and remember which pieces are more common, and try and leave gaps for those pieces rather then rare ones.

carp sooo isn't one of them "refine/practice" puzzles. it's simple and my personal favourite puzzle ^_^
used to be the worse one till I finally understood it
(Never knew that grain bonus actually counted for something <.<)

Carp isnt really all that hard, its just frustrating when the "random piece generator" doesnt give you the most common piece over a span of 15 pieces.

oooo, never new you could use the keyboard, ive always just used the mouse.
